What Goes Up Released On DVD

What Goes Up, the poignant dramedy about a reporter and his encounter with a group of adolescent social-misfits struggling to understand life, love, and all the chaos in between, is available now on DVD from Sony Pictures Home Entertainment.

Hilary Duff leads an all-star cast in a film that follows Campbell Babbit (Steve Coogan) on assignment to a small New Hampshire town. After Babbit attempts to contact an old friend, he discovers his friend has died and abandoned an eccentric group of teens, including Josh Peck, Olivia Thirlby, and Max Hoffman. Molly Shannon also stars in this unforgettable indy.

What Goes Up has a run time of approximately 115 minutes, which is 11 minutes longer than the version released in theaters on May 28.

“The film provides much to think about in terms of people who come into our lives, especially teachers, and leave such a lasting impact, or those whom we secretly fall in love with from afar. Finding it hard to say goodbye and dealing with raw teenage emotions... Hilary Duff provides a strong and surprising performance as Lucy who seemed to have the closest relationship with the late teacher.” — Scott Birmingham, Reel Fans

  2. And in Italy??? Can we hope to see What Goes Up in theaters? When (Autumn 2009, 2010)?

    Thanks

  3. @Josh There seems to be some confusion over the rights in Canada.

@Lorenzo From what we were told, Italian rights are still available, which means the producers are looking at options over the next two weeks. We're hoping we can do better than 2010. :)

The initial sales seem okay; we're hoping more people who like the film write reviews on Amazon, etc. because the DVD sales will help the producers expand the release.

  8. Anon,

It was available on iTunes when we secured the link (and one of the team members purchased it in advance on iTunes). So it's a mystery.

We're tracking the Apple link above; and assume it will be corrected.

As for the international releases, we are all hopeful the DVD sales will help make it possible.

  13. The film is touching, truthful, and, more importantly, an absolute blast to watch, thanks in part to smart performances from Coogan, Molly Shannon, and Hilary Duff in a role that might rub some of her loyal fans the wrong way. What Goes Up is about the lies we tell and the truths we keep hidden deep inside, a theme I'm sure most of us can relate to on one level or another. Thoroughly impressive stuff. – The Film Fiend

  14. We still have a few days before we learn what the producers are intending to do. The interest is growing, easily in the top 100 on the IMDB.

Thanks everyone for your continued support!
